"Keep off the Grass"
D.U.M.B.O art under the Bridge Festival
Sept 2007 (in collaboration with Cynthia Ruse)

Grass sod was unrolled and placed together over the sidewalk covering the length of one city block. The grass was installed during the night to avoid disturbing foot traffic as well as to provide an early morning surprise to anyone passing by. The aim was to offer pedestrians something natural underfoot in the concrete jungle, an unexpected patch of green, simultaneously small and large, fragile and defiant.
The interaction of people with this piece and its inevitable deterioration was documented. After this project was finished the grass sod was recycled to create a new patch of green space in Brooklyn. Some of the sod was cut up and given to the public to take home in pizza boxes and plant outside.
